Dear Parents and Guardians of Broadview Public School, I have a few more updates to share with you. Ski Club 2018 Call for Registration Registration begins today for five weeks of ski and snowboarding on Friday evenings at Vorlage with the Broadview Ski Club.  Beginners welcome!  Please see attached communique and note that registration ends on Sunday 17 December.  Please note that this is not a school-sanctioned event. It is organized entirely by parent volunteers. We look forward to seeing you on the slopes! Student Well-Being Speaker Series The link on the previous message didn’t work so we’re trying this again. I apologize for the inconvenience: The Student Well-Being Committee is very excited to announce a Speaker Series that will be offered to parents this Winter The goals of these events are to provide information, resources, and practical advice for parents on a variety of topics that are relevant to many children, teens and families. In order to chose which topics will be the most helpful, we need your input! Please go to the link below to choose the 3 TOPICS that you would like to learn more about. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LDXHWWH Call for Volunteers Given the busy holiday season and the many activities at school and in the community, we are in current need of volunteers to support the upcoming Immunization Clinics for Grade 7 and 8 students (Thursday and Friday, December 14-15 during the school day) as well as the Snowball Dance for Intermediate Students (Friday, December 15) in the evening from approximately 6:00 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. If you have a few hours to spare in support of either of these two events, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at [email protected]. Dear Parents and Guardians of Broadview Public School, We’re midway through December and showing no signs of letting up! We have students out for sports tournaments, trips to the museum, and practices for upcoming concerts. School Council meets tomorrow night, our Snow Ball is this Friday, and there will be a Winter Solstice concert on next Thursday, December 21. We also have teachers visiting from Spain and school administrators visiting from Jeju, Korea. There is literally never a dull day at Broadview, and I happen to like it that way! Vaccinations Ottawa Public Health will be here on Thursday and Friday this week to administer vaccines for our students in grades 7 and 8. Please make sure your children have a full breakfast before coming to school. Information regarding vaccines should be coming home today or tomorrow. Play Structures are Closed for Winter Our play structures are now closed for the winter. When dropping off or picking up your children, please do not allow your children to use the play structures as this sends mixed messages to our students. Cookie Dough Pickup Cookie dough pick up is on WEDNESDAY, the 13th from 3:45 pm onward. Please come to the GYM to pick up the dough. If you are picking up after 5:45 pm, please go to the school's lobby. The dough is frozen and since the school will not be able to freeze it overnight, it needs to be picked on Wednesday, the 13th. Holiday Hamper Donations Donations can be dropped off at school in our lobby. See the attachment for more details.   Broadview Silent Auction The Broadview Fundraising Committee is thrilled to announce that we will be hosting an online Silent Auction from February 1st-14th 2018. Broadview School Council and our community partners are raising money to complement and enrich the educational experience of Broadview students. We have received a ton of fantastic donations from community businesses already. We would also like to invite parents from the Broadview community contribute by donating a product, gift card, set of tickets or a service to be used as an item in the silent auction. We will continue to add business logos as donations come in until December 22nd. Here is our Broadview Silent Auction poster so far: Please give generously and help us ensure that Broadview students have an exceptional educational experience. We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful school and this fundraising will help to make it even better! Please direct donations and/or questions to Nicola from the Fundraising Committee: [email protected] Thank you and all the best, Broadview’s Fundraising Committee Student Well-Being Speaker Series The Student Well-Being Committee is very excited to announce a Speaker Series that will be offered to parents this Winter The goals of these events are to provide information, resources, and practical advice for parents on a variety of topics that are relevant to many children, teens and families. Please be mindful of the following parking lot guidelines: Our parking lot has a single entrance and a single exit. The entrance is between the Tower building and Nepean High School and the exit is at Avondale. There is no entry to our parking lot from the Avondale/Broadview intersection. This decision was made in consultation with our school council to ensure safety of our children. The parking lot is reserved for staff between 8:30 and 4:30 - please park your vehicles on a side street, respecting the local parking rules as posted. The drop off loop in the parking lot is reserved for OSTA vehicles (School Vans). Parents/Guardians may not drop children off in the parking lot Thank you fo
