Dear Parents and Guardians of Broadview Public School, Welcome to Spring!! I hope you enjoyed this past Easter weekend and the warmer weather that came with it. Alli, Alison and I are in the thick of staffing our school for next year. This process, which takes around 3 months from start to finish, is probably the single most important task we have as school administrators. We have the task of placing teachers in teaching assignments and hiring any new teachers. We also decide school facility utilization, figure out timetables and consult with teachers and parents to create class lists. Our school is projected to grow again next year, so we will be hiring new staff.  Class Placements for 2018-2019 - Info due Monday, April 29, 2019 In April, the Principal, with the advice of staff, begins the process of developing and refining class lists for the coming school year. A range of criteria are used, such as balancing the needs of children academically, grouping children appropriately for special education or English language learning services, matching teaching/learning styles where possible, grouping or dispersing students appropriately based on social/behavioural needs, and balancing the number of boys and girls in the class. This process is one of the most important decision-making tasks of the school year. As such, we work in a professional manner to achieve the best possible results for all of our students. If a parent feels there are important learning and/or social factors that should be taken into account for his/her child’s placement for 2019-2020, they are invited to send this information to me by Monday, April 29, 2019 by completing this form. https://forms.gle/izxPQ3SqgQbvV6bb8 The content of the input should only reflect the learning and social needs of the child. Requests for staff certain staff members will not be considered.  Yearbook To parents of Intermediate students: Intermediate yearbooks are on sale now.  They are $20.00 - Go to ybpay.lifetouch.ca and use the Yearbook ID Code: 12444419 for Broadview Public School. The deadline was April 18, but has been extended to April 24th.  Cash, or a cheque addressed to Broadview Public School, can also be used. An envelope as part of the flyer went home to use, or send it in an envelope with your child's name and homeroom teacher, attention: Ms. Cowan.  New Student Information Night - Monday, May 6, 2019, 6:00 pm Broadview will be hosting a parent information night for families new to Broadview. Please spread the word to your families, neighbours, and friends who might be interested in knowing more about Broadview Public School. Grit on the Pavement Our icy conditions this year meant lots of grit and salt were deployed throughout the winter. With Spring here, we’re finding that the paved areas of our yard are covered in grit - the small stones that are used throughout the winter to add traction. Our amazing Chief Joe is doing his best to look after the pavement until May when the street sweepers will be able to come and do a full clean up. Until then, I ask that you please use care when walking on the paved areas of our yard. We’ll ask the students to do the same through our morning announcements. Mr. Joe has been doing a great job of looking after the basketball courts and four square play areas - thanks, Joe! Parking Lot/Safe Driving A reminder to all parents and guardians that our parking lots are reserved for staff only and are not suitable locations for pick up and drop off of students. Please do not park your vehicle in our main parking lot during the day. Please refer to the attached map for ideal pick up and drop off locations around the school. Please note that Broadview Public School does not have a dedicated pick up/drop off lane. Our main parking lot drop off lane is reserved for OSTA vehicles only. As many students walk through this lot, pickup and drop off by the community is not permitted outside the hours of 8:30 - 4:15.  https://d
