Welcome to Broadview Public School! We look forward to having your child, or children, join us for the 2019-2020 school year.  Whether you are a returning family, or a new one joining us, we look forward to being part of your child's educational journey.

A few important pieces of information that may be helpful to you as you look ahead to the 2019-2020 school year:

First of day of school: Tuesday September 3rd.

All first year or new to school Kindergarten students will have received information by mail about their intake meeting either on September 3rd or 4th.  If you did not receive this information, please call the school on August 26.  Kindergarten students will either start on September 6th or 7th.

All students from Grades 1 to 8 are to gather on the pavement area between 9:00 and 9:15. There, students will be greeted and connected with their homeroom teachers.  At 9:15, the school bell will ring and classes will proceed into the school to their classrooms.

School Supplies: A list of recommended basic school supplies that all students should have access to for the year is available here:  School Supplies.

Staying Connected: School information is sent out most commonly via email from the office or your child's homeroom teacher.  It is essential that we have up to date contact information (email, phone). You will receive a printout of the current contact information we have for you at the beginning of the school year.  Please make sure that any changes to any information on these sheets is recorded and sent back to the Broadview Office.  Our school web site ( has a school calendar you can subscribe too, as well as our daily announcements to make sure you are never more than a click away from the info you need.
Online payments for student fees and activities can also be made. An account in will be needed (you may have done this already at previous schools)

Attendance: Daily attendance (and punctuality) are essential to your child's success in school. If your son or daughter is going to be absent or late for an appointment or other family situation, please contact the Broadview Office at 613-722-0647 to speak to Ms. McPherson or Ms. English.

Daily Schedule for 2019-2020 School Year:

9:15 to 11:15 - First Instructional Block
11:15 to 12:05 - Recess and Nutrition Break
12:05 to 2:05 - Second Instructional Block
2:05 to 2:45 - Recess and Nutrition Break
2:45 to 3:45 - Third Instructional Block

Transportation:  Please click here to read further about transportation for the 2019-2020 school year.  Student transportation information is now available on the OSTA Parent Portal. Please re-verify transportation information the week prior to school start-up as stop timings/location may have changed.

Life-Threatening Medical Conditions: Should your son/daughter have a serious or life threatening medical condition that requires planning for, please ensure that relevant information is shared with the school. Should any medical interventions (e.g. medication, inhalers, epi-pens, etc) be necessary parts of their plan of care, please ensure to plan ahead for the required documentation (including doctor's signature on authorization forms) and medication provided to the office in September.

Please note: The school office will be closed from July 1st - August 25th.   It will reopen on August 26th.  If you have an urgent situation that requires attention during the summer, please feel free to contact the OCDSB directly (
